The Grand National Championships

Addition is Equal to Subtraction for the Jersey Giants.

Now that we have let a modicum of the Eli Manning shock wear off, there is one question that we as Sporties must ask.

Which Giant Star and their exit was the bigger catalyst for this glory?

The Obvious Choice: Tiki Barber

HEY LADIES!!!

After 10 Seasons in the NFL, Tiki ended with acrimonious notes. He mocked Eli Manning and his supposed non-huddle leaderships. He absolutely hated Tom Coughlin to the point of blaming his retirement on Coughlin’s coaching style (Not to mention blaming previous playoff losses on said coach) apropos of Coughlin curing Tiki of his fumble yips.

He had an excellent TV image, but he was a bad teammate. He aired the dirty laundry in public. The coach would talk at him in private, and he would tell ESPN that he was being treated badly. The fact that he was leaving allowed there to be a cleaner locker room environment to be sure.

But Have You Considered? Jeremy Shockey.

EVEN DOUCHIER IN SUIT FORM!!!

Jeremy Shockey is a giant douche. A spectacular athlete with good skills, he has a tendency to dominate a huddle with the sort of behaviors reserved for only the top and most insane of wide receivers. His douchebaggery would have forced Eli to make more mistakes as Shockey wanted his catches so that he could bang the strippers at Scores.

All in all, he is the personification of your average Giant fan. Classless, tactless, and VIP’s in the Champagne Room. With Kevin Boss and his emergence, one could shop Shockey for a low to mid 2nd Round Pick, and lose very little in the process.

So, in a final verdict, who is the bigger reason as to why the Giants won a hot ending (but if it’s the best ever you need to leave Hyperbole Station) Super Bowl?

It’s both. Tom Coughlin didn’t have to be distracted by trying to make the Diva happy. But what’s more important? Eli Manning could grow on the field. Plaxico became a legitimate superstar. Ahmad Bradshaw’s growing into a new Tiki. And Kevin Boss is more than just a poor man’s Antonio Gates.

Jeremy Shockey got a ring because he broke his leg. If he was healthy? It would have been a completely different Super Bowl.
