While Lofton is a truly lethal shooter when healthy, Smith is just about as good. He's a clearly superior athlete and arguably played the best defense of any guard in the SEC. His glaring weakness is his ball handling, but he will absolutely make it in the NBA if he can improve in this area. Right now, Lofton is lacking in both athleticism and defense if he wants to compete at the NBA level. I wish them both the best. He's got basketball smarts and he's crafty; he's like the rich man's Adrian Griffin. He led the nation in scoring for the past two years, averaged double-figure boards, and had a fair share of picks as well. Maybe not a regular NBA contributor, but could be an interesting bench guy for the right team. Or he'll just end up being the guy who does the little things on some D-League team.
