We in America (not San Francisco!) love you. For the majority of us(99%), you are THE Home Run King. We will never take that away from you. Mr. Aaron, America respects and admires your grace under adverse conditions, your respect for the game we all hold dear, and your poise while another man breaks* your home run record.
In our eyes Mr. Aaron, you are one of, if not THE, greatest player of all time. On a personal note, Mr. Aaron, I would like to share with you my own personal experience of meeting you. It was Oklahoma City in 1984. I was two nearly three years old. You, Mr. Aaron were signing autographs at a local car dealership. My father, mother and I waited in line for four hours in august heat waiting just to glimpse you. Thankfully, we were able to get our baseball cards signed by you since 5 people after us you decided you were finished.
I can never thank you enough Mr. Aaron, for giving me one of my first memories as a child. It is a memory I still cherish to this day. You are THE Home Run King and you will remain to be until Ken Griffey Jr goes for 756 which I know even you are rooting for. Personally I think Bob Schieffer said it best…
With Love and Respect!
ELVI!
