  1. I think Stephen A. Smith and John Kruk have a legitimate beef with the seeding committee. They should be way higher than 3 and 6 respectively.

  2. WHere’s Chris Collinsworth?

  3. I can’t believe Stu Scott and Dick-head V didn’t get No. 1 seeds. I guess that shows how many annoying talking heads ESPN has.

  4. How do I vote? Also, Leaving Bill Raftery off this list is an injustice. I would hav ehad him as at least a 4 seed. Could he possibly compete in a play in game against one of the 8 seeds?

    Comment by Pete — July 9, 2007 @ 10:55 am |Reply

  5. Come on! most of these guys shouldnt be in here.
It should be the Skip Bayless award and year one should just be between Skip and Jim Rome ( oh wait it is the annoying award take Rome out and put him in the Duche Bag bracket)

  6. Is Joe Theisman not an ESPN personality. If so, he’s an automatic top seed, and probable winner.

    Comment by Scott — July 9, 2007 @ 12:09 pm |Reply

  10. What about Linda Cohn? She kind of annoys me 87% of the time. Is she going to be in out of your brackets?

  11. How is Steven A. Smith not a number one seed, that guy couldn’t be more annoying if he was Skip Bayless’s brother.

    Comment by John — July 9, 2007 @ 12:20 pm |Reply

  12. It all comes down to Stuart Scott, Keyshawn Johnson, and Skip Bayless..but one question how can Stuart Scott and Keyshawn be in the same bracket? These are the two of the worst in the whole thing!

    Comment by pat — July 9, 2007 @ 12:26 pm |Reply

  13. How is Stuart Scott only a 2? His body of work surely puts him at the top of the heap of the most annoying personalities in the universe, much less ESPN.

And Stephen A Smith a 3? He’s 1a behind Scott. Remember the ads for his horrible TV show? Remember the part where’s he’s dancing in slow motion and slightly drooling? That qualifies him for a 1 seed as well as the top seed in the “creepy and slightly distrubing” category.

    Comment by BOHChris — July 9, 2007 @ 1:02 pm |Reply

  18. No way Mariotti’s a one seed over Stuart Scott. That’s illogical and would make Billy Packer flip over in his grave.

    Comment by BOHChris — July 9, 2007 @ 1:03 pm |Reply

  19. How can you leave out Dan Lebetard? He should be a #1 seed.

    Comment by Bill — July 9, 2007 @ 1:06 pm |Reply

  20. Joe Theisman is the biggest blowhard in television, although I’m not sure if he is still employed by espn.

    Comment by t bridges — July 9, 2007 @ 1:11 pm |Reply

  21. the top two divisions are pretty stacked: bayless, gray and smith in one and then berman, rome and paige…those are going to be some battles. the third bracket is pretty bad too, but joe morgan is more senile than annoying, so i dunno if he counts.

  25. Prediction – It’s obvious that Stephen Annoying Smith is top-tier and will be a finalist, but there is some serious competition on the second tier between the likes of Vitale, Stuart Scott and Skip Bayless!

    Comment by Jake — July 9, 2007 @ 1:31 pm |Reply

  26. You can give it to Stephen A. Smith right now.

  28. “Right after the birth of his child, Tiger called me and asked, ‘Scotty, where’s your name?’” What about Scott Van Pelt?! However, I like the match-ups overall, though Stuart Scott should have been a one-seed and Mark Jackson should not even be close to being on the list, unless his ABC/ESPN bosses have told him to appeal to idiots. (Remove Jaws and Hubie, too.)

  30. Just give it to Musberger and cancel the whole event. Without a doubt, he’s the most irritating, know-nothing, rah-rah, so-called “sportscaster” I have ever had the dubious honor to have to listen to, and on many national championship games at that. Aaaarrrggghhhhhhh!!!!

  33. How can Joe Morgan only be seeded #3? He’s unlistenable. And Sean Salisbury #4?!? How many times can he remind us in a half-hour show that he was a quarterback “in this league”…..yeah, he had to retire from chronic blisters on his clip board holding thumb.

    Comment by JM — July 9, 2007 @ 2:18 pm |Reply

  34. I don’t get it… How are Jim Rome and Vitale not #1 seeds? Also, Deion Sanders and Michael Irvin abscent? You could probably get rid of a few of the ones on the list to make room for them. (Schlereth, Jackson, etc. probably don’t warrant being on the list.)

    Comment by J.B. — July 9, 2007 @ 2:21 pm |Reply

  41. Lee Corso got shafted, he is by far a #1 seed. He deserves it over Jay Maroitti!

Stuart “you can call him Cool like the other side of….Shut the hell up and give the score of the game” Scott will clearly take the Hunter S. Thompson division!

    Comment by Frankie P — July 9, 2007 @ 3:02 pm |Reply

  42. Im with you on Linda Cohn being in there. Not all the time, but when she described plays as “sick” or adjectives like that, she sound like your teenage friend’s mother who tried to sound “hip” and be cool around the guys.

  45. Where is Jon Millleeeeerrrr – the man who can not properly pronounce a single name without making it longer than Whitney Houston’s version of the anthem.

Listening to Miller and Morgan do a baseball game is like – well, I just can’t do it. Makes you want to watch soccer or poker or NASCAR.

    Comment by Chip a — July 9, 2007 @ 3:32 pm |Reply

  46. Brent Musberger is tremendous. Anyone who thinks he is annoying doesn’t know anything about televised sports.

Hands down the championship game should be “Boo-ya” versus “Back-back-back”…they’re the top two reasons I don’t watch ESPN as much a I used to.

    FYI…I love Lee Corso!

  47. Where in the world is Michael Irvin’s name?!?!?!?!

    Comment by DB — July 9, 2007 @ 4:02 pm |Reply

  48. Wow. Thanks for the response you guys. I’ll answer some of your questions.

On Theisman: It’s a sense of timing. The annoying he represents has been mitigated. He’s on the payroll, but he’s not gonna be on TV anythime soon.

On Sanders: It’s ESPN only. Deion would definitely make a 64 person all network battle.

On Raftery: He’s only annoying to me and Mister Patterson in DiGorno commercials. Thusly, he doesn’t qualify.

On Irvin: He’s an All-time bracket #2 seed. But he’s off doing something else now. He got canned by ESPN.

On Linda Cohn: We’ve fopund about 45 legitimate candidates. Some had to be cut. Theisman and Cohn were among those whom were cut.

On Lupica: We’re not up at 9 a.m. on a Sunday. We have vibrant Saturday Nightlives.

Okay. Mister Patterson has a vibrant Saturday Night life. I just work.

    Again, thanks for this.

  59. What about Mark May? I am not sure if anyone mentioned him. He mark “may” be sooo annoying that he is in a category all its own. Pete Carroll better hope he never makes an abrupt stop because he will then need surgery to remove Mark from being so far up his backside.

I have never seen someone in the media so biased against one team as he is against Notre Dame. It is amazing they can even field a squad they are so bad in his eyes.

In closing, get bent Mark May

    Comment by Patty3 — July 9, 2007 @ 8:36 pm |Reply

  60. I would say Stephen A. as a 1 (over Musburger)…Jim ROme needs to be a 2 seed. But lets talk about the Bracket at hand.

I’ve got big upsets in the Hunter Thompson division…that’s right Sean “In this league” Salisbury will come out of that division and make the Final 4. I got Stephen A. just barely eeking the upset over Bayless (I hate Bayless so much but Stephen A. is truly annoying). And as much as Vitale is annoying (but c’mon, he’s just crazy) and Joe Morgan is an idiot….Jay Mariotti is just the most insufferably negative person I ever heard. No one has ever loved that man at all for him to be like that. Berman comes easily out of his bracket. So we got Mariotti vs. Salisbury, Berman vs. Stephen A. I got Mariotti and Berman….with….BERMAN coming out victorious. One more “Winnie the Pooh”jols and I might just explode.

  62. hubie brown has to be taken off this list. he knows more about b-ball than any of the announcers. he should be replaced by that tom tolbert loser. he also has a “doug gottlieb punch-me face”. lupica would also be a great replacement. brent “Big 10″ musberger is a solid #1 seed. schlereth could be a darkhorse. how many times do we have to hear about his 23 surgeries and how great the broncos o-line blocking scheme is? also, look out for either jim gray or the joe morgan/stephen a smith winner to make a run to the championship. salisbury is way too funny to be on here.

    Comment by miller — July 9, 2007 @ 10:16 pm |Reply

  63. Okay, Digger fricking Phelps needs to be here. This is a man who is living off of a last second shot that beat UCLA over 30 years ago (and broke their record win streak) to save his job at Notre Dame. He leaves and not only does he hate certain teams (listen to his analysis of Boston College at any point, he RIPS them constantly), he now also color coordinates his TIE to his HIGHLIGHTER! Is there anything more creepy and douchebaggy than that? I’m not saying that Digger would win the whole thing, I’m just saying the committee made a mistake with relegating him to the NIT.

    Comment by Evan — July 9, 2007 @ 10:42 pm |Reply

  64. These comments are priceless for the most part, but I wish we could see another annoying TV personality give the play by play at the MLB allstar game, none other than Mr. Lou Dobbs announcing the names of the allstar game players which are predominantly made up of NON-americans.
