I’m not going to be one of those guys who flip-flops on a player just because of one game. I mean, I liked LeBron before he kicked it into Jesus mode. And even Jesus had a bad day.
But Homer Bailey’s the latest prospect out there all up in the grill of the American Baseball public, and as I mentioned before, he is more hype than polish. Well, he debuted on Friday. And yes, he did outpitch Tim Lincecum’s debut. But there was a lot more luck and support than skill.
The Line: 5 IP, 5H, 2ER, 4BB, 3K in 113 pitches.
Yeah, he got the win, but he allowed two baserunners per inning to do it. That’s just awful command, there.
Will he get better? Most likely. Will it be this year? I will say, probably not.
You really need a young up and comer. Just count the days until Dougie Baseball finally tires of Dave Bush and his lame starting pitching.
